Your Publishing Partner
From idea to publication and beyond.Publishing guidance and strategy for Hispanic and Latino writers building books and careers in the United States.
Why Pivot?
Pivot Project Studio provides editorial guidance, publishing strategy, and practical support throughout the process of developing and bringing a book into the world. We work with writers to shape ideas, strengthen manuscripts, understand their options, prepare their work for publication, and think strategically about what comes next.Pivot is primarily for Hispanic and Latinx writers in the United States, including bilingual writers, at different stages of their creative and professional journey. Whether you are developing an idea, working on a manuscript, deciding how to publish, or planning your next step after publication, Pivot meets you where you are.Pivot does not believe one path works for every writer. We combine editorial expertise with publishing strategy to help writers understand their options, make informed decisions, and build an approach that aligns with their work, goals, audience, and circumstances. Because Pivot remains independent from any particular publishing route, the focus stays on what makes sense for you and your book.
Mission
To build a literary ecosystem where Hispanic and Latinx writers in the United States can move from idea to publication and beyond with greater knowledge, ownership, access, and professional opportunity.
VISION
A publishing industry where Hispanic and Latinx writers are fully represented, resourced, and empowered to shape the future of literature.

“Writers make better decisions about their work and careers when they have knowledge, practical guidance, and a community that values their creative work.”
— Roxana Calderón
MEET THE FOUNDER
Hi, I’m Roxana Calderón, a writer, editor, and the founder of Pivot Project. For more than twenty years, I worked in youth development across New York City’s nonprofit sector. That experience shaped how I think about access and opportunity, and taught me to question systems that require people to perform their struggles before receiving support. My path into publishing began with the Dominican Writers Association, which published my first book, guided me through the process, and later gave me my first editing opportunity. Through Spanglish Voces, I continued to grow as an editor while working closely with Hispanic and Latinx writers. The more manuscripts I edited, the clearer it became that writers needed more than feedback. They needed guidance on what to do with a manuscript, how to evaluate their publishing options, and how to prepare their work for what comes next.I earned a Master’s in Publishing from The George Washington University and built Pivot Project to bring publishing education, editorial work, and writer-centered support together.
